Memorial Day is a time when we honor those who fought for us in the armed forces and sacrificed so much, many giving their lives. The proud display of our flag not only shows our patriotism, but on this weekend it also represents our thanks and remembrance of those who died.
On the North Fork and at Quintessentials Bed and Breakfast and Spa, it is also the unofficial start to the summer season, when the weather warms and our thoughts turn to vacations and getaways. The East End of Long Island really springs to life. There is live music at the dozens of wineries, concerts and theater in the parks and a host of other summer activities. This weekend there are parades, such as the one in Southold which begins at 10:00 on May 25th. There’s dancing at Claudio’s on Saturdays and Sundays, and refreshing walks at dusk through Mitchel Park and Marina.
And, did we mention the many pristine beaches on the North Fork?
